About UsApollo Hospitals Educational and Research Foundation (AHERF) is an autonomous organization recognized by the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR) as a "Scientific and Industrial Research Organization (SIRO)", to carry out research, educational and training programs in the quest of quality health care. Our organization has grown from strength to strength. Together we have achieved establishing the foundation of a much larger, sophisticated and visionary organization which will spearhead Research and Innovations for Apollo Hospitals.

Objective

AHERF undertakes and promotes scientific and medical research programs that have a bearing on the health, social, economic and industrial needs of India. AHERF leverages the strength of the Apollo Group of Hospitals, which lies in its competent clinicians and clinical researchers, a large number and variety of patients, state-of-the-art diagnostic and therapeutic technologies and an excellent medical records system.

VisionVision

AHERF's Vision is to create a world respected entity for avenues in Clinical Research, covering activities from drug discovery, development, therapy and marketing to the Pharmaceutical and Biotechnology Industry. To contribute significantly in strengthening the country's research base and to be a leader in research.

Mission

To undertake and promote fundamental, basic, translational and clinical research in all medical disciplines.

Scope

The scope of research is mainly focused on the cutting edge technology in the wet lab – Cell and Molecular Biology Research Center (CMBRC) at AHERF Hyderabad. The lab focuses on development/validation of bio-markers for diagnosis or therapy. Research is looked at AHERF in a holistic manner, covering, basic research, translational research, clinical research, epidemiological research, population studies, collaborative research, etc. To complete the spectrum AHERF is involved in medical writing and oversight or monitoring services of the clinical studies carried out in various centers of the Apollo Research and Innovations.

Advisory body

AHERF has a scientific advisory committee body consisting of some eminent scientists and healthcare professionals as its members, who have created a 'Road- map for Research' and the policies which make the organization a leading research and trials site in the country.

Road Map

The research task force has evolved a futuristic roadmap for AHERF and has identified various areas for cutting edge research, especially to carry out research activities in the areas on Basic and clinical aspects of stem cells, Molecular diagnostics, Development of new devices and drugs, Personalized drug usage through pharmaco-genomics, etc.

Our Strength

The strength of AHERF lies in its human resources for carrying out research activities, whether it is basic, translational, clinical, and epidemiological or population research. AHERF has a scientific advisory committee with over 25 research scholars in various research disciplines to ensure that research conducted at AHERF is state-of-the art and complies with the norms and standards as per national and international regulations. AHERF has a mix-up of GCP trained research team which consists of senior consultants, scientists, statisticians, scientific writers and clinical pharmacologists. The activities of AHERF are monitored by a Governing Board which reviews and guides for a seamless activity.

Scientific Advisory Committee (SAC)

The scientific advisory committee of AHERF consists of 26 eminent scholars from all over the nation who are well recognized for their scientific contribution to the national and global healthcare. The activities of all research proposals are reviewed and cleared by the relevant SAC member at a concept level, followed by the guidance by the Governing Board members.

Our facility

AHERF has a well-established functional Cell and Molecular Biology Research Centre (CMBRC) to carry out the original cutting edge laboratory research activities. The chairman of Apollo group, Dr. Prathap C. Reddy on 31st October 2010, formally launched a state-of-the-art laboratory comprising of molecular biology, cell culture and stem cell research at Hyderabad. This 3500 Sq.ft laboratory is equipped with class 10000 sterile facilities for the processing, culture and maintenance of stem cell lines. It has the latest equipment to conduct for molecular Biology, molecular genetics and molecular cytogenetic research. Full time research staff including, a senior scientist, research assistants and support staff conduct research in areas of molecular diagnostics and personalized medicine. Further this facility is also providing R&D support to Sapien Biosciences, which is creating a world class biobank and is involved in developing biomarkers.

Recognition

AHERF is recognized by Department of Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR) as a Scientific and Industrial Research Organization (SIRO) to carry out research in conjunction with national and international bodies to enhance the quality of healthcare services in India.

Experience

Mandated in 2007, AHERF has the experiences in conduct of research activities in collaboration with national and international organizations, universities. With the registered and head office located at Chennai, AHERF has established centers at Apollo Ahmedabad, Chennai, Hyderabad, Madurai and New Delhi which are now functional..

AHERF coordinates for the conduct of Investigator Initiative research studies for multiple specialties at various Apollo Hospital Centre’s across the country. To ensure the conduct of high-quality research, superior research data’s and protecting the safety of patients, AHERF conducts site monitoring activities periodically. We are also involved in validating of various diagnostic tools.
